Is America on the brink of an authoritarian shift reminiscent of history's darkest chapters? Explore the unsettling parallels between the rise of fascism in Nazi Germany and the ideologies emerging within the radical MAGA Republican movement today. Join me, Robbie Woods, as we dissect the provocative Project 2025, a controversial blueprint that poses a potential transformation of American democracy. By drawing connections to the rhetoric found in Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf and revisiting pivotal events like the 1939 pro-Hitler rally, we underscore the urgency for vigilance and action in safeguarding our democratic principles, particularly with the consequential November 5th election looming.

We navigate the complex tapestry woven by Project 2025, reflecting Donald Trump's previous presidency's agenda on immigration, economic policies, and civil liberties. From drastic immigration stances to economic proposals potentially favoring the wealthy, we unravel the sweeping implications these policies hold for American society and marginalized communities. The narrative delves into Trump's contentious relationship with NATO and Ukraine, revealing how Project 2025 could influence America's geopolitical stance. Brace yourself for a thought-provoking exploration that not only warns against perceived authoritarianism in Trump's proposals but also serves as a clarion call to understand the stakes at hand and the power of your vote in shaping the future.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Inside American Politics Podcast. I'm your host, robbie Woods. This episode of the podcast is very important, folks. It is very important that you listen to it all the way through. I will be taking you through several parts of the Radical, fascist MAGA Republicans' Trump Mandate Manifesto, project 2025, so that you have a crystal clear understanding that, like Adolf Hitler transformed a democratic Germany into a fascist Nazi Germany, so does fascist MAGA Republicans with the Project 2025 blueprint manifesto, plan to transform our democratic America into a Nazi Germany of old Period.

Speaker 1:

Fascist MAGA is the new fascist Nazi. Make no mistake. The Fascist MAGA Republicans attack on America on January 6th, ordered by Donald Trump. Adolf Hitler 2.0 and carried out by the Fascist MAGA Republican terror cells to overthrow our American Constitution and democracy, was just a dress rehearsal. These fascist MAGA Republicans are Donald Trump's version of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The comparison between Hitler's Mein Kampf and Donald Trump's Project 2025 are similar. In the agenda they both set forth, and we know this. In the agenda they both set forth and we know this. We've all heard Trump spewing his fascist, maggot Nazi verbiage straight from Hitler's Mein Kampf when he talks about immigrants, poisoning the blood of America and calling immigrants vermin. Here you don't have to take my word for it. You can take it and hear it straight for yourself, straight from Donald Trump's mouth.

Speaker 3:

We've got a lot of work to do. You know, when they let I think the real number is 15, 16 million people into our country. When they do that we got a lot of work to do they're poisoning the blood of our country. That's what they've done. They've poisoned mental institutions and prisons all over the world, not just in South America, not just the three or four countries that we think about, but all over the world. They're coming into our country from Africa, from Asia, all over the world. They're pouring into our country. Nobody's even looking at them, they just come in. The crime is going to be tremendous, the terrorism is going to be.

Speaker 1:

Terrorism is going to be, and we built a tremendous piece of the wall and then we're going to build more there, straight from Donald Trump's own mouth. You heard it. You don't have to believe me. Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf is a 1925 autobiographical manifesto by Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler. The book outlines many of Hitler's political beliefs, his political ideology and future plans for a then-democratic Germany and the world. Volume 1 of Mein Kampf was published in 1925 and Volume 2 in 1926.

Speaker 1:

Hitler began Mein Kampf while in prison following his failed coup in Munich in November 1923 and a trial in February of 1924 for high treason in which he received a sentence of five years himself entirely to the book. As he continued, he realized that it would have to be a two-volume work and the first volume scheduled for release in early 1925. The governor of Landsberg noted at the time that Hitler hopes that the book would run in many editions, thus enabling him to fulfill his financial obligations and defray the expenses incurred at the time of his trial. After slow initial sales, the book became a bestseller in Germany following Hitler's rise to power in 1933.

Speaker 1:

Every eligible American citizen to vote must vote on November 5th to save America from the fate of the then-Democratic Germany in January of 1933 through May of 1945, where that Democratic Germany was transformed into Hitler's Nazi Germany. There is more Americans than there is fascist MAGA Republicans. We have to vote to save our democratic republic. Your vote does count. A non-vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for Donald Trump and the very possible end of America as we've known it for the last 248 years. How will you explain that to your children and grandchildren?

Speaker 1:

In Germany in 1933, rest assured that Germans didn't see the consequences of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Party or think that it would be as such as it was. Don't you think it can't happen again? And here in America today, fascist MAGA Republicans plan to hold a Nazi rally at Madison Square Gardens in New York, like the Nazi Party rally held there in 1939. The event at Madison Square Garden was billed as a pro-American rally. It was in fact a rally to support Hitler and fascism. According to the Daily Beast, james Carville referred to the Trump campaign's recent announcement that it would hold a rally on October 27th, just under a week before November's presidential vote. The same venue hosted a 20,000-strong pro-Hitler rally organized by Nazi organization the German-American Bund on February 20, 1939. It featured portraits of George Washington surrounded by swastikas. Here's James Carville. Let me pull this up real quick so you can hear straight from James Carville's mouth.

Speaker 2:

To be very senior in this administration didn't say that the gates of hell will rain on my political enemies when I said that I didn't know that he was going to schedule a rally at Madison Square Garden to mimic the Nazi rally of 10 February 1939. So we have, they'll tell you and, by the way, if they win, they're going to correctly say we told you in the election what we were going to do and you voted for us. You have green-lighted the whole thing. I did not realize, when I said that, that he was actually going to come and do it.

Speaker 1:

Straight out of straight from James Carville's mouth. The fascist MAGA Republicans are telling us right out in the open what they plan to take and do. And make no mistake, they will take and do it. November the 5th, your vote is needed to save American democracy. We saw the fascist MAGA Republican terrorists wearing swastikas inside our nation's Capitol on January the 6th when they attacked America. Donald Trump and his fascist MAGA Republican Party are the number one threat, in my opinion, to America and our Constitution and our democracy.

Speaker 1:

What is Project 2025? The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank organization, launched a plan which aims to make fundamental changes to the backbone of the United States federal government, and it will be executed if former President Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. Trump has attempted to disassociate himself from the Project 2025, claiming that he has nothing to take and do with them. Despite its support for Trump and congruence with a lot of his priorities, his Project 2025 agenda would limit our freedoms. It introduces a strategy developed by former President Donald Trump's employees that focuses on the first 180 days. The plan begins with a massive takeover of the federal government to concentrate power under President Donald Trump. Their aims are made plain inside the pages of an extensive policy recommendations, mr Trump. According to a review of his campaign policy proposals and interviews with people close to him, trump and his associates have a broader goal to change the balance of power by increasing the president's authority over every part of the federal government that currently operates with any measure of independence from political interference by the White House, whether a law or tradition. New York Times, july 17, 2024. First, they'd make it easier to fire nonpartisan government employees folks, as they tried to do at the conclusion of Trump's presidency, and reissued Trump's executive order on Schedule F, which allows for the termination of non-performing staff. This is in Project 2025, a mandate for leadership, page 535. Then they'd be replaced by politically appointed Trump loyalists.

Speaker 1:

The moderate conservative president's task is to limit, control and direct the executive branch. The great challenge confronting a conservative president is the existential need for an aggressive use of the vast powers of the executive branch. Success in meeting the challenge will require a rare combination of boldness and self-denial boldness to bend and break the bureaucracy of the presidential will Page 43 and 44 of Project 2025. They would eliminate the independence of the Department of Justice and FBI. Conservatives have long believed in either ending law enforcement activities of independent agencies or ending their independent status page 873 of Project 2025, and utilize them as the White House's enforcement weapons. The next conservative administration must make every effort to obtain the resources to support a vast expansion of the number of appointees in every office and component across the department, especially in the Civil Rights Division, especially in the Civil Rights Division, the FBI and the EOIR Page 570 of Project 2025. This would also place the FBI under a politically accountable leader page 59 of Project 2025. Some of Donald Trump's allies are putting together measures to limit the Justice Department's independence and convert the country's top law enforcement organization into an attack dog for conservative causes, according to nine people familiar with the work Reuters reported by Reuters May 17, 2024. All the while, trump is immune from prosecution for crimes committed while in office, according to the decision by the Supreme Court.

Speaker 1:

Choices. Project 2025 is a federal policy agenda and blueprint for a radical restructuring of the executive branch, written and published by former Trump administration officials in collaboration with the Heritage Foundation think tank, a long-standing conservative think tank that opposes abortion and reproductive rights, lgbtq rights, immigration rights and racial equality. Mandate for Leadership. Project 2025's most extensive book is a 900-page manual for the rebuilding of the whole federal government, agency by agency, to serve a conservative agenda. Project 2025 has a broad list of extreme policy ideas that affect practically every element of America society, from immigration and abortion rights to free speech and racial justice. Several of its suggestions rely on support from the executive branch and Congress. Many other proposals are clearly unconstitutional. What are some of the plans and proposals included in Project 2025? Project 2025 aims to give MAGA zealous authority over your life Over your life.

Speaker 1:

Project 2025 proposes hundreds of specific policy changes that will affect our constitutional rights in every area of our life. Among them are restricting abortion access. Reversing the FDA's approval for methamphetamines, a medicine used in medication abortion. And reinstating the Comstact Act, a 19th century statute that prohibits any abortion pills, equipment or materials from entering the United States through postal service Abortion. Some believe that Project 2025 may attempt to implement a nationwide abortion ban. To implement a nationwide abortion ban. While the text does not explicitly mention this, however, a number of its policies include eliminating or restricting abortion services, potentially significantly limiting abortion rights. Its plans include prohibiting abortion travel funding. Ensuring that medical professional training is not used for abortion training. Reversing FDA approval of the chemical abortion drugs. Limiting the use of abortion pills. Reenacting the Comstack Act to limit mail order abortion pills and proposing the removal of federal funding from the reproductive health service providers.

Speaker 1:

In comparison, trump has been caught in a bind over the abortion stance with his campaign's policy platform, delegating decision-making to the states rather than imposing a broad federal reform. We proudly stand with the families and life the platform states. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied life or liberty without due process and that the states are therefore free to pass laws protecting those rights. It continues as follows After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the states and to a vote of the people, we will oppose late-term abortion while supporting mothers and policies that advance prenatal care, access to birth control and IVF. Project 2025 has also stated that it will allow insurers to discontinue coverage for the week after pill. They plan to impose a 50-state backdoor ban on abortion without Congress' approval, as well as arrest health care practitioners, announcing a campaign to enforce criminal prohibitions in 18 United States Code, sections 1461 and 1462, page 562 of Project 2025.

Speaker 1:

Project 2025 would recreate the Comstact Act of the 1800s, which prohibited abortion nationwide and jailed health care providers. Page 459 of the Project 2025. Do not take our word for it. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a literal interpretation of the Comstack Act would possibly apply to materials used in all abortions, not only medical abortions. There would be no exceptions, and it might have an impact on all other medical services, such as miscarriage management. Kaiser Family Foundation, april 15, 2024. They would also outlaw abortion medicine, which is used in a variety of ways to preserve women's health.

Speaker 1:

Abortion pills are the greatest threat to unborn children in a post-Roe world. The FDA should reverse its approval for the chemical abortion drugs. Page 457 of Project 2025. They will require states to report women's miscarriages and abortions to Trump's federal government. Project 2025 would use every available tool, including the cutting of funds, to compel states to record miscarriages and exactly how many abortions that take place within its borders, identifying the reason for each abortion. Page 455 of Project 2025. They would impose restrictions on contraception access. The president would eliminate the week after pill from the contraceptive mandate. Employers can deny their employees access to birth control coverage. Deny their employees access to birth control coverage. Page 483 and through page 485 of Project 2025. It also calls for the defunding of Planned Parenthood, which provides contraceptives to more than 2 million women each year page 471 of Project 2025, and then repeal President Biden's provisions for women's access and life-saving medical treatment. The president should overturn the skewed abortion interpretations introduced to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act page 473 of Project 2025. They will permit discrimination against LGBTQ plus Americans. Resend regulations that ban discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status or sexual characteristics. The President should direct agents to repeal regulations that construe sex discrimination prohibitations such as forbidding discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual status, sex features, etc. Page 584 of Project 2025.

Speaker 1:

Immigration Trump has undoubtedly made immigration his main campaign issue for re-election, criticizing Biden's record for unprecedented number of border crossings during his tenure, albeit frequently using untrustworthy statistics to back up his claims. He has promised to launch the biggest deportation program in US history on his first day back in office. He has advocated for the use of the National Guard to make arrests and has not ruled out the deployment of military personnel. Trump has also recommended out the deployment of military personnel. Trump has also recommended deputizing local police personnel to identify targets and make arrests with immunity. The former president has not ruled out the construction of detention centers to process people, although claiming that they are unnecessary. Remember Adolf Hitler and his Third Reich concentration camps. I also would not rule out anything he told Time Magazine, but there wouldn't be that much of a need for them because of the fact that we're going to be moving them out. We're going to bring them back from where they came. Be moving them out. We're going to bring them back from where they came. Trump's remarks on migrants as poisoning the blood of our country echoed Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. He also referred to individuals suspected of committing crimes as animals.

Speaker 1:

Project 2025 has a similar harsh stance on immigration, noting in its preface that illegal immigration should be ended, not mitigated. The border sealed, not reprioritized to Title 42, the now expired public health law that allowed authorities to bar people from entering the United States from countries where there is the existence of communicable disease that could spread to humans. The policy was reinstated by the United States. Disease Control was established in March 2020 by then-President Donald Trump in an effort to contain the growing COVID-19 pandemic. Critics said the initiative, which was supposed to be a health strategy, was being used as a blunt tool to restrict migration to the United States, while also preventing asylum seekers from reaching protection. Its ongoing use sparked controversy because it remained in effect even after COVID-19 measures were repealed. However, the new president, joe Biden, initially decided to preserve the policy, seeing it as a critical public health precaution in the fight against the coronavirus.

Speaker 1:

Project 2025 further asserts that it would tackle alien smuggling, trafficking and cross-border crime as defined under Titles 8 and 18 of the United States Search Code. Code is the Center of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE operations. Other proposals include granting ICE officers the authority to enforce immigration laws without a warrant in the US fund and mandate detention places. Increasing daily availability to 100,000 beds. Removing visa categories for victims of trafficking and other crimes, arguing that victimization should not be a basis for an immigration benefit. Some of its plans are more bureaucratic, such as combining government agencies to reform a stand-alone border and immigration agency at the cabinet level, which would have 100,000 employees. It would also redefine the criteria for credible fear of persecution, limiting migrants seeking a refuge by changing the boundaries for asylum to exclude the possibility of gang or domestic violence. These are only a handful of the policy recommendations put forward by the organization. While more technical in nature, they look to be squarely in line with Trump's reform agenda Mass deportations, targeting immigration communities, with mass deportations and raids, repealing birthright citizenship, dividing families and undermining our country's asylum system.

Speaker 1:

Remember where, under Donald Trump, he took and had babies ripped from their mother's arms and then had those babies and children put in dog kennels, dog kennels and cages. Kennels, dog kennels and cages. Further abusing warrantless surveillance. Exploiting the executive branch's massive and unparalleled capabilities to snoop on Americans' lives through warrantless data collection. Using excessive force against protesters. The use of federal law enforcement to target journalists and protesters violates the First Amendment.

Speaker 1:

Donald Trump's four years in office were marred by grave abuses of executive power, including efforts to suppress protests and dissent, critical liberties at the foundation of our participatory democracy. He used federal agents and surveillance to silence Black Lives Matter demonstrators and anybody else he saw to be opposed to his policies, threatened to use his presidential power to punish political adversaries and targeted media who criticized him. If elected for a second term, we expect the Trump administration to escalate efforts to further restrict our First Amendment rights and utilize the federal government power to attack political opponents, suppress dissent and weaken checks and balances on the presidential power. For more than a century, the American Civil Liberties Union has guarded our most fundamental rights and liberties, including the right to free expression, without government intrusion. They will not stop now. If Trump is re-elected, they will utilize the courts, congress, state and local authorities and our organizational muscle to oppose illegal attempts to surveil Americans, limit expression and undermine democracy.

Speaker 1:

Project 2025 is a scheme to make Trump and his wealthy associates further affluent, richer. It will reduce taxes for Trump and his wealthy friends while exercising increasing their profits. The corporate income tax should be reduced to 18 percent Page 696 of Project 2025. Tax cuts for wealthy families are countered by tax increases for middle-class families. Project 2025 proposes restructuring the tax code to favor rich families page 696 of Project 2025. Millions of low and middle-class households are anticipated to pay significantly increased taxes under Project 2025's ideas. Brendan Duke, senior Director of Economic Policy at the Center for American Progress, estimated that a middle-class family with two children and a $100,000 annual income would pay $2,600 more in federal income tax if they faced a 15% flat tax due to the elimination of the 10% and 12% tax brackets. If the child tax credits were also withdrawn, they would have to pay an additional $6,600 in taxes compared to the current system. Duke stated In an instance a married couple with two children and an annual income of $5 million would receive a $325,000 tax decrease. He projected CBS News July 12, 2024.

Speaker 1:

24. They'd enrich Big Pharma by lifting prescription drug price caps for seniors and prohibiting Medicare from negotiating lower drug pricing. I want to say that one more time They'd enrich. They would enrich Big Pharma by lifting prescription drug price caps for seniors and prohibiting Medicare from negotiating lower drug pricing. Repeal harmful health policies enacted under the Obama and Biden administrations, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, page 465. The Inflation Reduction Act, page 465. This negotiation program should be repealed page 465.

Speaker 1:

All while Trump's administration undermines Medicare and Social Security. When asked about changes to the benefits like Medicare and Social Security. When asked about changes to the benefits like Medicare and Social Security, trump stated oh, we'll be cutting. And later reiterated that's a lot you can do in terms of cutting. Trump has also referred to Social Security as a Ponzi scheme, advocated for raising and qualifying age and expressed interest in privatizing the program.

Speaker 1:

They would allow businesses to dramatically reduce or completely abolish overtime. Returning to Trump's overtime rule, 4 million middle-class workers would lose overtime protections based on their salaries. Require remote employees to work a minimum of 10 hours each day to qualify for overtime. Prevent perks from being introduced in employee overtime calculations. Allow companies to calculate overtime over four weeks rather than one. Page 587, page 589, page 592 of project 2025. Furthermore, they would reinstate erroneous student loan installments. The new administration would put an end to abuses and loan forgiveness programs. Borrowers should be expected to repay their loans Page 322 of Project 2025. The Secretary should eliminate income-driven repayment plans and make new loans, including consolidation loans, ineligible. If the new legislation is conceivable, there should be no debt forgiveness, otherwise, current law would require forgiving any leftover balance after 25 years. Page 337 through page 338 of Project 2025.

Speaker 1:

Trump discusses surveillance, protest and free speech. The facts In 2020, the Trump administration threatened to use the force to stifle protesters and then sent federal agents and National Guard troops who arrested and used excessive force against protesters and journalists. If Trump wins a second time, this misuse of authority is likely to contribute and even worsen. Trump has already stated that his government would explore using the Insurrection Act to deploy the military to America's cities, potentially targeting areas with high BIPOC and immigration populations, in order to restrict the right to demonstrate. Trump has also stated that his administration will target online free expression by requiring media, businesses and online platforms to carry conservative-favored discourse Censorship. Trump, as president, might use federal law enforcement authorities to target advocacy organizations and individuals he disagrees with. Indeed, during his campaign, trump advocated violent crackdowns on university protesters, which is consistent with his previous attacks on academic freedom. He has threatened to deport non-US citizen student protesters, combining his anti-free speech and anti-immigrant rhetoric. We also expect Trump to utilize his authority to target further media members and press freedom in order to suppress bad reports about him or his administration.

Speaker 1:

Furthermore, project 2025 has made it obvious that a second Trump administration seeks to eliminate the existing weak safeguards that prohibit the president from misusing the executive branch's authority. In Trump v United States, the Supreme Court ruled that the president from misusing the executive branch's authority. In Trump v United States, the Supreme Court ruled that the president cannot be criminally charged for official acts quote unquote such as employing the Justice Department for personnel and political gain. Trump can use a politicized Justice Department and the vast array of federal agencies to attack voters, protesters, journalists, abortion care providers and patients, his political opponents and anyone else he perceives as quote enemies unquote. Even now, trump allies in Congress are attempting to use their investigative tools to chill free speech, including targeting civil society organizations and activists engaged in protected advocacy, such as opposing the war in Gaza. The hazards of federal government targeting its opponents and vulnerable communities are exacerbated by mass surveillance methods, which the ACLU has long sought to limit, would use surveillance programs like Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, fisa, which authorizes the collection of communications between US citizens and the people outside the US, on which Congress has dangerously expanded to allow the government to search Americans' private communications and information without a warrant or notice why it matters. A second Trump administration would violate many of the executive branch's checks and balances, undermining the basis of a functioning democracy by punishing political opponents and suppressing protest and dissent opponents. In suppressing protest and dissent, a second Trump administration would also jeopardize our long-standing American heritage of robust, free political competition, distinguished by spirited criticism and the fundamental belief that the people have the final word.

Speaker 1:

How did we get here? Early in Trump's presidency, trump sent National Guard troops to block Black Lives Matter protesters in Washington DC, threatened to deploy the military more broadly to quell protesters in their US cities and dispatched federal law enforcement agents across the country to break up protests with force, including arresting protesters and journalists. Trump has also demonstrated how he will target perceived enemies, whether they are political opponents, media members or ordinary folks. Or ordinary folks he has threatened to prosecute or injure President Biden and the Biden administration officials, poll workers, former military generals, disgruntled former administration officials, demonstrators, journalists, migrant or immigration groups and many more. Furthermore, when it comes to surveilling Americans, there is a history of law enforcement and intelligence organizations abusing surveillance programs that allow the government to obtain private information from residents. It is all too simple to see a second-term Trump administration employing these widely and deadly eavesdropping powers to surveil and discriminate against political opponents, as well as people and communities already within its purview. Protesters, people of color, immigrants and those seeking abortions or gender-affirming care all face increased risk to their privacy and rights, severely restricting voting access, abusing executive power to interfere with our elections, criminalizing the voting process and undermining fair representation process. In undermining fair representation, censoring critical discussions in the classroom, censoring academic discourse about race, gender and structural oppression, in violation of the First Amendment, and pledging to withhold government funding to schools with curriculum that addresses the issues.

Speaker 1:

Education Both Trump and Project 2025 intend to dismantle the Department of Education. In a June speech to the Faith and Freedom Conference, trump stated that he would shut down. Shut down the Federal Department of Education and move everything back to the states. Down the Federal Department of Education and move everything back to the states, whether it belongs there and whether they can individualize education and do it with the love of their children. Project 2025 explicitly declares that it intends to shutter the department, describing it as a convenient one-stop shop for the woke education cartel, not concerned with children's education. Schools should be responsive to parents rather than to leftist advocates' intent on indoctrination, and the more the federal government is involved in the education, the less responsive to parents the public schools will be. According to the report, this department is an example of a federal institution into a traditionally state and local realm. For the sake of the American children, congress should shutter it and return control of education to the states. Trump has also threatened to remove government funds to any institution that promotes critical race theory, radical gender ideology and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content. Project 2025 follows suit, reclaiming that the noxious tenets of critical race theory and gender ideology should be excised from the curriculum in everyday school in our country.

Speaker 1:

Climate and energy While Biden has outperformed American oil production throughout Trump's presidency, trump has long advocated for the resumption of domestic drilling and criticized the deployment of energy efficient technology. Trump has termed climate change as a hoax. Trump has termed climate change as a hoax and has proposed reducing regulation and increasing fossil fuel consumption in the united states. Project 2025 echoes these sentiments, stating that it seeks to restore america's energy dominance and end the war on oil and natural gas, which would include expanding drilling and energy exploration in Alaska, as well as reorganizing government departments to prioritize energy security over trying to decarbonize the American economy. It has also established broad goals for eliminating government offices and programs that focus on clean and sustainable energy, as well as the reintroducing gas and oil programs. It wants to end food-related sustainable deployment, stop using less reliable energy sources quote unquote in government buildings, end the focus on economic decarbonization and renewable resources, eliminate energy efficiency standards for appliances, eliminate or reduce funding for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and revoke funding for the Clean Energy Corporation. Other plans include establish a more conservative EPA, allow fossil fuel and production on territory owned by American Indians and Indian nations. Reform or eliminate the following DOE offices Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, the Office of State and Community Energy Programs, advanced Research Projects Agency, energy Office of Grid Deployment and DOE Loan Program. According to NASA, the combustion of fossil fuels has led greenhouse gases to quickly grow in the atmosphere, warming the globe, changing water cycles and levels, modifying weather patterns and melting land ice, leading to higher levels of oceans. This influence has been connected to floods, tropical cyclize actors to demonstrate against transgender people, such as threatening to sue schools that protect trans students rights or informing hospitals that they will lose Medicaid funding if they provide gender-affirming medical care to trans adolescents.

Speaker 1:

Nato and Ukraine. Trump has been broadly dismissive of NATO and has stated that he could solve the international crisis, such as the war in Ukraine, in a single day, despite lack of facts to back up his claims. During his first tenure, the former president criticized NATO leaders for not meeting defense expenditure commitments. In 2014, partners pledged to spend 2% of their GDPs on militaries by 2024. In 2018, trump reportedly threatened to withdraw from NATO unless members showed greater commitment to burden sharing. However, his intentions for the US involvement in the organization are based on European countries increasing their spending. According to a July Politico article featuring interviews with named and unnamed Trump and US officials, he may reduce America's role in the organization and implement a two-tier system, which would mean that countries that did not meet their 2% spending target would not receive the same defense and security guarantees as the US project 2025 has particularly echoed this by pointing out that it would increase Allied conventional defense burden sharing, along with transform NATO so that US allies are capable of fielding the great majority of the conventional forces required to deter Russia, while relying on the United States primarily for our nuclear deterrent and select other capabilities, while reducing the US force posture in Europe.

Speaker 1:

Regarding Ukraine, trump's representatives have stated that a top priority in the second term will be to quickly negotiate the end to the war Ukraine war and that Trump believes that European nations should be paying more of the cost of the conflict. Project 2025 delegated decision-making to the new administration, claiming that common ground seeks to be recognition that president leadership in 2025 must chart the course. It does, however, discuss three schools of conservative thought on the subject. The first condemns Moscow's illegal war of aggression and calls for the conflict to be ended by defeating Russia and returning the pre-invasion border boundaries. The second point is the Ukrainian backing is not in the country's best interest. It labels the country corrupt and wishes to end the war through a peaceful settlement. The alternative process that foreign policy decisions are made in the interest of the American people, with the US involvement being paid for and limited to military aid. These opposing viewpoints, it claims, still agree that Russia's invasion is unjust quote-unquote and that Ukraine has the right to defend itself.

Speaker 1:

What are Donald Trump's connections to Project 2025? The Heritage Foundation, a long-standing conservative think tank with direct ties to former President Donald Trump's administration, produced Project 2025. Though Trump has erroneously claimed that he has no connection to Project 2025, a recent CNN analysis discovered that at least 140 people who worked on Project 2025 had previously served in the Trump administration. Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, also served on President Trump's transition team in 2016 and has defined his organization's role as institutionalizing Trumpism. Roberts, also, a key proponent of overturning the 2020 election to keep Donald Trump in office, actually lost. To keep Donald Trump in office after he lost Mike Howe, a Heritage Foundation executive, recently declared the 2024 election fraudulent before voting has even begun, ever began stating without evidence that any outcome other than a Trump victory would have been the product of fraud.

Speaker 1:

What will happen now? Trump attempted to separate himself from Project 2025, writing on Truth Social that he knows nothing about Project 2025, quote-unquote has nothing to do with them quote-unquote and that some of their concepts are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal quote unquote. Project 2025 has previously informed Newsweek that it does not speak for any candidate or campaign. Quote unquote. We are a coalition of more than 110 conservative groups advocating policy and personnel recommendations for the next conservative president, according to the statement, but it is ultimately up to the president, who we believe will be President Donald Trump, to decide which recommendations to implement. Quote unquote. Trump to decide which recommendations to implement. Quote unquote. However, many of its principles are consistent with Trump's public pronouncements and reflect the RNC's program committee's approval of Trump's policy program. Given the Heritage Foundation's close alignment with these priorities, its influence in the Republican Party space and the number of influential officials and leaders who have worked with or broadly support Trump, it is difficult to imagine that none of its recommendations will be implemented by a Trump administration if re-elected in 2024.

Speaker 1:

The possibility of this happening has sparked outrage among Democratic rivals and Trump critics. President Joe Biden's campaign described the document as an extreme policy and personnel playbook for Trump's second term, and that should scare the hell out of the American people. Furthermore, project 2025's policies are not popular among voters. Ugov study on Trump's agenda 47 initiatives the proposals that received the most resistance were also included in Project 2025. Plans to eliminate the Department of Education, for example, were strongly or moderately opposed by 58 percent of respondents. Trump's performance during the first term demonstrates an openness to engaging with outsider experts. According to a ProPublica research from 2019, around the halfway point in his term, one lobbyist was hired for every 14 political appointments, for a total of 281 lobbyists. It remains to be seen whether this record serves as a template for Trump's second term in power, potentially paving the way for direct representation from Project 2025's data. Nonetheless, considering the similarities between Project 2025's plans and the previous president's beliefs, it would be extraordinary if none of the recommendations were implemented, even if just by happenstance.

Speaker 1:

People, this should scare the living hell out of you. Okay, this should scare the living hell out of you. I want to reiterate something, make no mistake. Okay, fascist MAGA Republicans. Attack on America on January 6th ordered by Donald Trump, adolf Hitler 2.0, and carried out by fascist MAGA Republican terror cells to overthrow American Constitution and democracy was just a dress rehearsal. These fascist MAGA Republicans are Donald Trump's version of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The comparison between Hitler's Mein Kampf and Trump's Project 2025 are similar in the agenda set forth in both and again, we know this. We've heard it. Okay, donald Trump spewing the verbiage from Adolf Hitler's manifesto Mein Kampf.
